Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is the closest thing to a magic wand that we can use for treating many lameness problems and pain a horse may be suffering from. Laser therapy is especially useful for horses that too painful for any type of manual therapy, like chiropractics or acupuncture. We can apply the laser to the painful areas for 1-3 appointments often together with some light massage techniques and then be able to do more manual therapies when the pain is relieved from the laser therapy.
Laser therapy provides relief by reducing inflammation and helping the tissue heal faster. It does this by increasing the microcirculation of the treated area. This microcirculation increases the nitric oxide production. The NO causes the blood vessels to dilate. More blood can get the area and then remove more the inflammatory cells. This gives the horse pain relief and begins the healing process.
